We’ve catered for lots of wonderful events at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School in the past month. Usually, the day will start at 9am with a hearty breakfast of Bacon, Sausage and Egg Rolls and a selection of warm, flakey Pastries. Tea, coffee, orange and cranberry juice are all available during the morning.
The guests will then head off into the beautiful grounds to commence shooting. During this time, we at The Pot Kiln Anywhere begin to set up the tables for the meal. This month, we managed to move the tables into the garden area due to the glorious warm weather. We lay them with simple white cloths and navy napkins, which look great with the Shooting School’s red chairs, and the back drop of Stratstone’s amazing cars.
At some corporate and charity events, our chefs make delicious snacks which are taken up to a quaint wooden gazebo in the centre of the shooting grounds. The teams help themselves to some food and cold drinks to keep them going until their main meal. Our usual snacks include Spanish Frittata, Creamy Houmous, Summer Vegetables and Bread Sticks, Traditional Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls, Sticky Glazed Honey and Mustard Sausages and Sundried Tomato and Olive Palmiers.
Once the group have enjoyed the refreshments they finish their last round of shooting and head to the Gallery, depending on the type of event, they may then have a drinks reception of Champagne, Lagers and Soft Drinks before making their way to the tables to enjoy their Shoot Lunch. Popular lunch choices include Slow Braised Shoulder of Berkshire Downs Lamb, Cornfed Chicken Breast with Boulangére Potatoes and Creamed Wild Mushroom Spinach, and a range of delicious desserts such as Classic Eton Mess, Chocolate Pots garnished with Honey Comb and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Our desserts are often served in a rustic, country manner either in ramekins on torn brown paper, or in Kilner Jars complete with a garnish – creating the perfect sized dessert to finish your meal. Some groups opt for Cheese Boards to be served to each table, which include a range of cheese biscuits, Snowdonia Cheddar and a Kilner of Chutney.
Our largest event this month at the Shooting School was for the Peter Jones Foundation, with guests including David Coulthard, Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and the charming Grenadier Guards who kindly posed for a photograph with one of our employees (above).
